Mr Bongoの見解では、「Imprevisto」はブラジリアン・ジャズ史上、最も印象的で特徴的な楽曲のひとつ。ドラマチックなイントロと催眠的なピアノ・ライン、左右に広がるパーカッションが彩りを加え、そこへハイハット、そしてウッドベースが重なっていく…。言葉を超えた名曲である。

Bossa Trêsは1961年、リオ・デ・ジャネイロで結成。活動初期は主にアメリカのジャズ・クラブを巡るツアーに明け暮れたが、やがてオリジナル・メンバーのルイス・カルロス・ヴィニャス（最も有名なメンバーでもある）が帰国。本作は、1965年に名レーベル〈Forma〉からリリースされたアルバム『Em Forma!』のラスト・トラックであり、7インチとしてのリリースは本Brazil 45が初となった。

B面には、知る人ぞ知る女性シンガー、アナ・ローゼリーの1984年の楽曲『Skim Dum Dum Dum』を収録。1975年から1984年の間にわずか4枚の7インチを残したのみで、詳細なプロフィールはほとんど知られていない。RGE Discosからリリースされたオリジナル盤は、その音像からは想像しづらい80年代の作品。良好なコンディションのオリジナル盤は非常に入手困難で、近年さらに価格が高騰している。

In Mr Bongo’s opinion, “Imprevisto” is one of the most unmistakable Brazilian jazz tracks ever recorded. It opens with a dramatic flourish and a hypnotic piano line, embellished by panned percussion, then the hi-hats drop… and finally, the upright bass enters. A deeply atmospheric, unforgettable classic.

Bossa Três formed in Rio in 1961. Much of their early years were spent touring the jazz club circuit across the United States before returning home, led by pianist and standout member Luis Carlos Vinhas. “Imprevisto” is the final track from their Em Forma! LP, released in 1965 on the renowned Forma label. This Brazil 45 pressing marked the very first time the track had appeared on a 7”.

On the flip side is the elusive Ana Rosely’s brilliant 1984 single “Skim Dum Dum Dum.” Between 1975 and 1984, she released just four two-track 7” records, and little else is known about her. Originally issued by RGE Discos, the track surprised even seasoned collectors with its unique, genre-blurring sound. Copies in good condition are now extremely rare—and increasingly sought after.
